Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University (SGBAU) was founded in the year1983 under the UGC Act. The University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities,and an associate member of Association of Commonwealth Universities, London (UK). It has been approved by the University Grant Commission, UGC. The University campus spreads over an area of 470 acres. The University has jurisdiction over the districts of Amravati, Buldhana, Akola, Yavatmal, and Washim. The university has also been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The University offers numerous courses in various disciplines. Certificate, Diploma, Degree, Master, PhD programs in different fields are awarded at University of Amravati. The University also offers literacy programme, population education, environmental education, technology transfer, continuing education, and extension services. It offers both conventional and career oriented professional courses.
The University has an active placement cell that provides regular interactions with business fraternity, industrial tours, summer internships, and final placement assistance.
